About Steroid Injections
At Tricity Pain Associates, our team of certified physicians has enhanced the comfort, wellness, and quality of life for countless patients who suffer from chronic pain in their muscles, joints, neck, back, and legs. While surgical procedures are needed in some cases, many patients often seek a minimally invasive solution to help improve their condition and manage their pain. As an alternative to a surgical approach, our caring team is pleased to offer the epidural steroid injections (ESI) in the treatment and management of chronic pain. Epidural steroid injections are anti-inflammatory medications administered in or around the area of the spine where the pain or inflammation is originating. ESI procedures may help provide relief from spondylosis, spinal stenosis, arthritis, a herniated disc, and other health conditions. To learn more about steroid injections, or if you have chronic pain that has not responded to over-the-counter medication or other therapies, schedule a consultation with a pain management specialist at our Round Rock or South Austin, TX practice location today.

"I have nothing but great things to say about Dr.Kim ! This is my first experience with a pain management doctor and I highly recommend Dr.Kim .Nerve and chronic pain can be debilitating and that's exactly what I was experiencing 6 months ago when I first came to Dr.Kim.Wasnt sure what to expect but after Dr.Kim quickly diagnosed me with stenosis and a bone spur causing the pain and inflammation he wasted no time in treating me with a series of injections, pain medications and physical therapy. While I am not quite back to 100% I am in a MUCH BETTER place than I was 6 months ago.Dr.Kim is truly sincere about your needs when it comes to injuries and pain and he is a GREAT listener! His physicians assistant and staff are all great too ! If you are experiencing ANY type of pain dont hesitate to schedule an appointment with Dr.Kim.You wont be dissapointed!"- M.U. / Google / Aug 25, 2021

Before beginning your ESI procedure, we will position you on your stomach and administer a local anesthetic around the treatment site to enhance your comfort. Our skilled team will then expertly insert the epidural needle and monitor its precise placement through fluoroscopy (live x-ray). Slight pressure is generally experienced as the medication enters the body. Once the procedure is complete, our team will monitor you for a while before releasing you. While you should be able to walk on your own, we recommend that you have a family member or friend drive you to and from your visit. You may notice slight discomfort or soreness surrounding the injection site; however, this can usually be relieved with a cold compress. To help evaluate the success of your ESI and determine if further treatment is needed, we suggest that you record improvement in your condition and pain level in a journal. Any follow-up ESI treatments are usually scheduled 1 – 4 weeks apart. While the longevity of treatment results varies among patients, epidural steroid injections can provide relief from chronic pain and inflammation for several weeks and years, in some cases.
